Characteristics of Wood

The wood cabinetry in your space is new and has been processed, however, because wood is created by nature and has been exposed to the elements it inherits characteristics such as pinholes, knots and mineral streaks. No two trees are alike so variations in grain, texture and colour are inherent in all wood products. It is important to note that all wood will change colour when exposed to light, especially cherry.

Wood also adjusts to the conditions in your home - it expands and contracts as the seasons change and the humidity in your home fluctuates. Even household cooking can affect wood so we recommend you keep your humidity level between 40-50% to help alleviate warping, shrinking and cracking in your wood cabinets.
